Fault Models
A fault model specifies the spatial geometry of the larger, more active faults.
Fault Model 1
Status: Available
This model is based on the relevant parameters in Fault Section Database 1. This model was used in UCERF 1.
Fault Model 2
Status: Available
This is actually two alternative, complete statewide models (2.1 vs 2.2), where the different models represent epistemic uncertainties. Each model represents a subset of the fault sections in the Fault Section Database 2 (using only the geometry information contained therein).
These faults models can be accessed and viewed using the Fault & Deformation Model visualization tools.
Further documentation is available in the UCERF2 Main Report and Appendix A.
Fault Model 3
Status: Under Development
This will be a new statewide model that, in addition to adding or removing faults based on new information, will have a particular focus on where each fault ends and others begin (which will be important for quantifying multi-fault rupture likelihoods). Please see the UCERF 3 Project Plan for more information.
